This workshop familiarizes participants with the intellectual, academic, professional and quality of life (individual, organizational, societal) advantages of developing in a bilingual or multilingual environment. It also promotes consideration of challenges to developing this environment and encourages assessment of strategies to overcome those challenges.
The workshop provides an introduction and overview to the diversity and complexity of the fastest growing population group in the United States: Latinx/Latino/Hispanic. This includes national origin, cultural, racial, migratory, geographic, generational and linguistic diversity within a group that also shares important common elements and characteristics. Based on this, the participants are introduced to strategies that can be considered to further equity and inclusion based on the composition mix of the Latinx population within the organization or its environment.
The workshop is designed for top and middle management in an increasingly diverse organization that is seeking to further equity and inclusion. The participants explore the answers to the key questions in organizational transformation: why, who and how. Managers are supported in defining the reasons for embarking on DEI initiatives and the challenges that need to be overcome. Finally, participants are given the opportunity to define the general parameters of the design and implementation of these strategies and their roles as leaders in the process.
